Advertise your lan here!

Yes we are going to try a LAN in Salisbury again. This time on a weekend without a major event going on elsewhere in Adelaide. If attendance is good enough this will become a regular event on a monthly basis on weekends that don't clash with Valhalla, Streetgeek or ASLAN.
The LAN will be on Saturday June 20th 2009 from 11am to 10pm at the Buffalo Lodge Hall on Orange Avenue in Salisbury. Entry again will be $12.
Seats can be booked by PMing me. We will be making tickets available from a location to be advised later.
PM me with wishlists of games and types of comps you would like.
Security is being provided again as well. Other details will be ironed out at the committee meeting on Sunday.
There will be seating for about 40-50 people.
LAN will be all gigabit and the games below have been chosen so far:
Counterstrike Source Call of Duty 2 + 4 + WAW Command & Conquer Generals Battlefield 2 Unreal Tournament 3 and 2004 Flat Out 2 DOTA (If someone canshow us how to set it up)
Patches will be available through a File Server.

We will be fully Gigabit and if we get enough bookings seating will be increased by twenty or so extra seats up to about 70.

He merely stated that 'other' details will be ironed out, so I asked for more information on the previous statement.

Yes it's in the hall across the road from the St Jay's Youth Centre. What to do about coming to the LAN. 1. Book a seat to make sure one is available. 2. Bring your Computer Case. Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse & Mousepad, Power & LAN cables, Headphones. Preinstalled Games you wish to play at the LAN - required patches available on LAN server. Don't bring Speakers, Heaters or big non-PC cooling fans. Bring a comfy Office or Executive chair if you prefer it to the chairs provided. 3. Make sure you have transport arranged to and from the LAN. 4. Don't bring Alcohol or Drugs or come to the LAN Drunk or Stoned. 5. Don't share porn at the LAN - try to remove it from your PC before you go to the LAN in case you share your C Drive. 6. If things are still being setup in the hall before starting time don't expect to be let in early. 7. Have fun fun fun. See if your mates want to come along to play team games with you. 8. Make sure you have a decent antivirus program that is up to date. More Ideas and rules to be posted as I think of them. We are arranging a new email address and a website shortly. If someone wants to make up a mudmap to give people directions to the LAN that would be appreciated as I'm not graphically talented.

We have nothing to do with the Eureka Tavern. We just decided that the name was better than calling it Salisbury LAN Party.

No need for garbage posts in this section of the forum, I believe this was already addressed by Wookie in the last thread: The_Wookie wrote:Posts rubbishing an event because of its area code are not really welcome. Yes we can all have a joke - thats what the humour forum is for after all. Keep it there. Keep it on the straight and narrow or be banned.

Well the LAN starts in a little over eleven hours at 11am Saturday.
I will do a quick check of my emails at 8am and after that I have to packup to go setup the hall.
The location is the Buffalo Hall on Orange Ave in Salisbury. The hall has the letters RAOB on the front and it is between "Meals On Wheals" and a Tennis Court two streets south of the Uniting Church on Park Terrace.

was fun, i think there were around 10-15 people there.
network speeds were awesome, turns out they were too awesome for my onboard network chipset. I've found that I can run gigabit speeds for about an hour, then have to turn the machine off for 10-15minutes, because my speeds drop from 40mbs to 15kbs, and ping rates sky rocket into the high thousands. Which makes leeching and gaming near impossible.
Network ran smooth, parking wasn't an issue (plenty of street parking out front as it's a nice wide street), no power issues, had some good fun gaming, but my network card issues and my cold meant I had to call it a day earlier than I wanted.
Only downside is STEAM games and the client can be a little tempremental since there's no internet connection.

Here's my first report on the Eureka LAN.
The seven people who booked seats actually turned up. Since Big Bad and his two mates left early due to onboard network issues we had four people left for the Prize Draw. Funnilly enough yet again this was exactly the number of prizes we had so we drew numbered tickets and gave them the choice of which price they took in order of drawing.
The Cordless Mouse went to Nekron. The two Alienware Promotional Bags went to Pazza and Terra. The Alienware Heated Travel Mug went to Caddy.
Due to the numbers we only ended up playing COD 2 & 4, but everybody appeared to have fun anyway.
We hope to have our next one on August 1st. We'll know for sure as soon as Tassy checks back on available dates.
