Valhalla Lan Party's Began running back in 1995 when coax was the in-thing and hubs were a new technology.
Valhalla at this time was run under the guise of the AUCSC, an Adelaide University Club and the LANs were
being held at Pultney Grammer school on South tce. Several LANs were run there with the peak attendance
getting up to around 50 (that was big back then!) until we were evicted from that venue due to an unknown
thieves permanently borrowing some school property. In The following year or two, many LANs were held and
Valhalla purchased its first switch using a uni grant. We held LANs at various venues including Adelaide
University, Morialta High School, Gateway office in town and Forbes primary School. Without a permanent
venue, most LANs weren't that big, but as we all know the size of the LAN don't count for everything it's
how much fun you have! Valhalla also was involved in running 'trixapalooza' with our 'mate' trixter during
this time which was held in one of the side rooms at the entertainment centre. This LAN was the first 'big'
LAN in SA of sorts with around 120 people. It was a great success. In Early 1999 we managed to wrangle
our way into a conference room at Uni-SA City-West with comfy chairs and a built-in projector. Due to our
cheap prices and a quality lanning environment we began to quickly draw in the crowds. Shortly after moving
to City-West the AUCSC joined forces with SALAN (A Uni-SA club created to double our grant money :P) and within
a year we were bursting at the brim with over 100 attendees spread over the 2 rooms.

Late in 1999 we once again joined forces with trixter to hold the 'Lan-Me-Up' lan party at Uni SA Magill Campus.
This LAN proved interesting, and much fun was had by attendees. Overall the LAN was quite good and we got our
first glimpse of the Magill Venue in action with 145 people.After a few more City-West LANs we moved back to
Magill in early 2000, and, with some help from the Tokyo3 crew we held Everlan which like LAN-me-up was a great
success with around 150 attendees.

EverLan Crew 25/01/00 | The next logical step was to move to Magill. We did
this and 8 months later we had around 280 attendees once again pushing our venue to its limits, with a few power
issues creeping in. Due to our unwillingnes to refuse entry to anyone who turned up we knew we needed to find
somewhere new. Getting a venue for 300+ lanners and not charging lanners $30 a head (like several other interstate
lans of this size) became an issue.

Valhalla - Magill Uni 2/12/00 | We were then approached by eSquare who wanted
to run a large lan as a promotional exercise. The Venue chosen (our current Venue) was St Clairs Community center
in Woodville.We had our first LAN at St Clairs in August 2001, and with 350 attendees we knew that we (with a
bit of promotional help from eSquare) could reach 500 people for the eSquare500 event. We needed a generator and
had to borrow a lot of switches, yet the feat was achieved. Our unofficial figures were 530 attendees with a peak
of just over 500 lanners on the Saturday night. A great time was had by all with many many prizes/freebies given
away coupled with a lot of gaming!

eSquare 500 22/09/01 | We stayed at St Clairs and by early 2002 had reached
the venue's power capacity (450 people) and were filling up every LAN. Due to the power cap, and the fact that we
had to start turning people away, we started selling tickets before the event to avoid people's disappointment and
to avoid extremely long lineups before each event. Tickets reguarly sell out the week before the lan, so if you're
reading this and contemplating checking out the next lan - we suggest you get in early!.

July 2002 we held a special event, hired out a generator and filled both rooms with 654 attendees.
The LAN was an overall success despite some niggling power issues for a few hours early on. Subsequently we are in
the process of making our own power distribution equipment which is more ideally suited for LANs in order to avoid
this in the future.Since then we have been holding regular 450 person LANs every 6-7 weeks
